Energy Descent Action Planning

A comprehensive and coordinated plan for reducing Nottingham's dependence on
fossil fuel energy and building a resilient community where people are happier
and healthier, is at the heart of the Transition process. The plan is not
intended as a highly technical document but as a narrative intended to be
popular and easily accessible by the local people - to give them a story of how
the future might be created.

At a recent meeting of the Transition Nottingham membership, there was
enthusiasm to start this process and a group has been discussing how we might
move forward. The idea so far is for an initial meeting to begin the process of
sketching out the Energy Descent Plan. In our discussions we thought we would
ideally involve key people from existing organisations who will already
have ideas on what they think Nottingham will need to do to reduce its energy
use in transport, food supply, its buildings and so on - such people will need
to be involved in creating a realistic and well informed plan.

Obviously in order to get the whole process rolling, we need enthusiastic people
to take things forward. Technical knowledge is not required - we need passion
and enthusiasm for the Transition process and a commitment to Nottingham's
resilient future.
